SHAKESPEARE UNITED
Shakespeare 2012
Welcome to Shakespeare 2012, the campaign for an all-embracing national Shakespeare celebration to run alongside the Olympics in 2012 - with everyone having the chance of taking part, as audience, performer, or first time novice. All ages, all cultures, all religions, everywhere. Starting now, but leading on for the next twelve months, the Great British Shakespeare Event (as it was first known in 2004) aims to bring the work of our finest writer to every village, town and city, to people of all races, religions and cultures. It's for professionals and all enthusiasts. We agreed, at a suggestion from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, to aim our imaginative plans to bring Shakespeare literally to everyone in order to coincide with the London Olympics of 2012.
Many groups, theatres, schools, and many members of the performers' union Equity are supportive, and all are kept closely informed as our plans develop (see our links page) but, MOST IMPORTANTLY...Why not get involved?
